Step by Step Ambassadors

Who are the Step by Step Ambassadors?

They are a unique group of people (runner, marathon runner, nutritionist, coach, motivator, commentator, health enthusiast, etc.) getting together to encourage everyone across Quebec to Run for Leucan. Together, the Ambassadors will that each kilometer is a step towards health, for us and for cancer-stricken children.

It’s an honour for me to Run for Leucan. In 2011, I ran the Boston Marathon for Leucan in honour of young boy named Olivier who taught me the true meaning of courage. I urge you to take on this challenge and to Run for Leucan. Do it to stay in shape and to help cancer-stricken children. See you at the start line!

The idea to use running as a driving force to help children and families in need is particularly appealing because running is a family affair for me. I grew up inspired by my father who, twenty years ago, was among the top track and field athletes in Quebec: second place at the Montreal Marathon, Canadian representative at the first Francophonie Games in Morocco, holder of several track records… My father’s achievements gave me the sports and running bug. Today, I’m very proud to see this passion leading me to Leucan and its essential cause. Therefore, this summer, I will be running for the cause.

Sébastien will Run for Leucan on April 26, 2015 at the Banque Scotia 21k de Montréal et 5k race. Click here to show him your support!

Geneviève Nadeau, nutritionist

I decided to join Run for Leucan because this event combines several interests dear to my heart: physical activity, cancer and the health of children. It is an honour for me to be involved with Leucan, because I have always wished to help cancer-stricken people, especially young children and their families. As a nutritionist, I as well know how important it is to eat well, not only to prevent diseases… but also for fun! This is why my participation as an ambassador of the Run for Leucan event is symbolic to me: we run, we support and we have a lot of fun while reminding children and their families that we have to cherish life at each and every moment.

My latest television roles have made me realise just how a cancer diagnosis wrecks havoc in the daily life of a family. When a child is diagnosed with cancer, the whole family loses its bearings. I was recently approached by Leucan to join hundreds of runners who will pick a distance and race for the cause of cancer-stricken children. It’s thus with great pleasure that I will run a 5K for Leucan on September 20. From the start to the finishing line, I will be thinking of the hundreds of children who fight cancer with strength and determination on a daily basis and who show us what courage truly means. Follow my lead: lace up your running shoes and come Run for Leucan!

I know how devastating a cancer diagnosis can be. I lost my father to cancer five years ago. Since then, I’ve been paying closer attention to my health. As such, I’m proud to take part in Run for Leucan. Leucan is an association dear to my heart. Even a short ten-minute run every day is beneficial to your health, in addition to contributing to a healthy lifestyle regardless of your age. I urge you to join me in this race in support of Leucan’s wonderful cause.

Please support me on May 3, 2015 when I Run for Leucan at Centre de la nature de Laval!

Sébastien Roulier, ultramarathon competitor

An avid runner, I’m also the father of three children and a paediatrician working at Centre hospitalier de l’Université de Sherbrooke. I’ve explored running from several angles: on the road, on trails, on mountains, pushing my children in strollers and over distances ranging from marathons to 160K.

Beyond victories, running is a gateway to discovery, in and out of oneself; to living, to better-living, to well-being and to simply BEING.

Through my work, I interact with very sick children. I see first-hand the importance of supporting children and their families during cancer care episodes. In addition to my role as caregiver, I also recognize that health is improved through prevention and by promoting healthy living habits.

By combining my passion for running and my work, promoting good health through physical activity takes on its full meaning. Joining Run for Leucan is very consistent with my own project, En mouvement pour la santé, which aims to encourage people to exercise and surpass themselves. It will be a pleasure for me to take on personal challenges to support Leucan’s mission.
